Our commitment

HousRank is provided in compliance with the federal Fair Housing Act and applicable state and local fair-housing laws. We support equal access to housing information for everyone and do not make HousRank available in a way that discriminates.

Protected classes

The Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in housing because of:

  • Race or color
  • National origin
  • Religion
  • Sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation)
  • Familial status (such as having children)
  • Disability

State and local protections

Many state and local laws extend fair-housing protections to additional characteristics, such as age, marital status, source of income, or military or veteran status. We respect those protections where they apply.

Scores and rankings must not be used to discriminate

HousRank scores and rankings are informational estimates about properties, not about people. They must never be used to discriminate against any person or group, to steer buyers or renters toward or away from neighborhoods on a prohibited basis, or to make or influence any housing decision in a way that violates fair-housing laws.

Real-estate professionals, lenders, landlords, and others remain solely responsible for complying with all fair-housing and lending laws in their own decisions and conduct. HousRank does not authorize any discriminatory use of its content.

Reporting discrimination

If you believe you have experienced housing discrimination, you can file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) at hud.gov, or with your state or local fair-housing agency.
